Launch of the IAOCR Clinical Research Global Best Practices Board

17 November 2025
Global Best Practices Board Announcement

About the Global Best Practices Board

The GBPB is comprised of sponsors, CROs, supply chain companies, patient representatives, government organization representatives, and clinical research sites and networks from around the globe. It is an invitation-only group focused on the development and dissemination of best practices, networking and collaboration.

To find out more about the eligibility criteria for joining the Board, please contact Vicki Booth.

Hot Topics Under Discussion

Whilst scientific and medical innovations continue to accelerate, the non-clinical complexities of clinical research – from technology burden, administrative gaps and duplication, siloed working, to the ongoing (and much-discussed) ongoing global talent crisis, all slows progress and impacts on quality.

The board will focus on the vital non-clinical (operational, logistical, and relational) factors that effect the speed, quality, and cost of clinical trials – with an aim to breaking down silos and bringing new treatments to patients more quickly. Common discussion topics across the four regional chapter meetings include:

  • Workforce Sustainability
  • Recognizing and leveraging existing work to avoid “Reinventing the Wheel”
  • Collaborative Solution Building across Stakeholder Groups
  • Reducing Technology Burden
  • Enhancing the Patient Experience
  • Improving Collaboration Between Sponsors, CROs, and Sites

Recognizing and Leveraging the Work of Others – Appeal to other groups

The GBPB referenced a wealth of work undertaken by other groups has already been completed or is in development. Committed to adding meaningful value to the industry, they decided to explore what other resources, toolkits, frameworks, information, etc. are already in the public domain prior to commencing new projects or initiatives.

To signpost the GBPB to relevant work and notifications of work that are in the public domain, please email the GBPB Secretary, Kim Imedi.

Regional Strength, Global Collaboration & Influence

The GBPB was established to bring together key voices across the ecosystem to tackle challenges collectively. The Board they will focus on building stronger partnerships and ultimately enhancing the experience for both patients as well as clinical trial timelines and quality.

To enable meaningful engagement across diverse geographies and different time zones, the GBPB operates through four regional chapters. Each chapter works independently within its time zone to address regional priorities and challenges, while also contributing to global initiatives to unify insights and outcomes across all regions.

This structure ensures that local expertise and global coordination come together; supporting a network of joined-up thinking to deliver practical, balanced solutions that reflect the realities of clinical research around the world.

In addition to leveraging the expertise of the GBPB members, the Board will call on the additional expertise of individuals and organizations from inside the clinical research industry, as well as from other industries to procure best practice ideas and facilitate benchmarking.

A Shared Commitment to Progress

The launch of the GBPB represents a shared belief that collaboration – not competition – drives sustainable progress in clinical research.

The group’s outputs – including tools, frameworks, white papers, and best practices will be shared openly with the broader research community, ensuring that the benefits of this collaboration extend far beyond its members.

Together, we will focus on solving the non-clinical challenges that influence trial delivery, quality, and patient experience, and in doing so, play an important role in enabling a more connected, efficient, and patient-centred research environment.
